I got the second magnetometer and attached them both to the mount for testing.  The older one is on the left and, as I discovered, didn't work.  BMA's Shiela said send it back.  They replaced it with a new one.  She said mine was only the second one to fail.  I asked them to check it, but they haven't told me what they found. Here was the bench test setup with Samlex regulated power supply. I started with a 258 heading.

Turned it to 306 Banked right and the heading swung to 032 even thought the magnetometers didn't move. Rolling out the heading swung back around
EFISLite_benchtest_8.JPG (524696 bytes) EFISLite_benchtest_9.JPG (539055 bytes) Bob Northrup at BMA assures me this is normal reaction when the EFIS display is moved but the mags remain stationary.  I want to do more testing before final installation because the mags will be VERY difficult to reach once everything is installed.
Back to level and original heading Rolling left caused the opposite heading.

What do you want for Christmas?  An ELT???  What's that?

Panel28.JPG (508201 bytes) The panel is very close to the original plan.  The notable exception is the change from a Garmin transponder mounted below the EFIS 1 to a small round Becker transponder mounted to right of EFIS.
